Meditation For Pain Management

I have no experience with meditation for pain management except to say that a practiced meditator would have developed the quality of equanimity in his mind. He would then be able to manage the pain by suffering the discomfort without any feeling of aversion or “this should not be happening to me.” And the pain will pass. It must. It is in the nature of all sensations to arise and pass away. Thus the practiced meditator would be able to use the pain to develop spiritually.

The above is obviously easier said than done but anybody can determine to use the painful sensations to further his spiritual progress. Eckhart Tolle describes how to deal with the pain body in the modern spiritual classic – The Power of Now. He advises us just t be present in the Here and Now, to surrender to the pain without conceptualization of any kind. Just feel the sensation, surrender to it, and accept it as the will of God as it were. This act of surrender is a powerful tonic, which will help us to develop spiritually. Being present in the Here and Now is both the method and the goal of spiritual progress. If you are having any ailment which just refuses to go away you will be much helped by reading The Power of Now . It teaches meditation for pain management as applied to day to day life. This book is available at Amazon.

Persons interested in alternative healing may also wish to explore the website www.vedicvibration.com. This service is provided by Maharishi Mahesh yogi, the founder of the Transcendental meditation movement. The treatment consists of using sacred Vedic sounds to activate the body’s inner intelligence to help it combat the disease. The treatment is not cheap – it cost 900 dollars per consultation in the United States. Information is available on the website giving success statistics for every type of ailment treated by them.
